The Worcester and Birmingham CanalAfter a Parliamentary Bill in 1791 and several Acts were passed, construction of the canal was allowed. Construction begain in 1792 in Birmingham; progress was very slow but was eventually completed in 1815. The canal forms part of the Stourport Ring, a series of canals forming a canal ring around Worcestershire, The Black Country and Birmingham. The route includes flights of locks and two of the longest navigable tunnels on the United Kingdom network.
