Frequently Asked QuestionsWhat are the boats like?
All of the boats in the Starline Narrowboat fleet have been crafted by Starline Marine and include:
Is it safe? We provide a comprehensive briefing before you begin, along with a detailed manual, which is supplied on board every boat. Buoyancy jackets are free of charge and we suggest you wear non-slip shoes. There is always a potential risk near water, but if you act responsibly, your holiday should be safe. What experience do I need? No previous experience is necessary, but novices will be given extra help and advice to ensure they are competent boat handlers. When can we arrive and when must we return the boat? Boats are available from 1:30pm on your start day until 9:30am on your return day . Where can we go and how far? Our boats are licensed for the River Severn and the inland waterways. If you cruise on the River Avon an additional licence must be purchased en route. With up to speeds of 4mph, you can cover approximately 100 miles in a week. Are locks difficult to navigate? Locks are really quite easy and advice will be given before you depart. All locks on the River Severn are manned and you will have plenty of time to see and understand how they work before having to work a lock entirely by yourself. What do we need to bring? We suggest you bring towels, Wellington boots, waterproofs, a torch, your mobile phone 12v car charger and a small selection of CDs and DVDs. Can I bring my pet? A narrowboat cruise is a wonderful holiday if you own a pet with many walks along the towpaths. We allow well behaved pets on several of our boats but keep the following boats “Pet Free” for those that suffer from allergies - North Star, Bright Star, Shooting Star. Is there car parking at the hire base. Car parking is available for one car per boat within the marina (more by prior arrangement). How do I book? Simply click here to go to the bookings page. |
