The Gloucester to Sharpness CanalOriginally the plan was for a ship canal betwen Gloucester and Berkeley as authorised by an Act of Parliament in 1793. Unfortunately, only one third of the canal was completed at this time but after several years work began and the canal was eventually completed in 1827.
The Gloucester to Sharpness Canal offers easy, lock-free cruising passing through many picturesque villages and stunning views of the Severn Vale. |
