  1. BOOKING: A boat is not booked until the completed, signed booking form together with a deposit payment of 1/3 of the total Hire Charge plus any Cancellation Insurance premium has been received by the company and confirmation returned in writing. If within 6 weeks of the commencement date full payment is required.
2. BALANCE OF HIRE CHARGE: The Hirer, upon making a booking becomes responsible for the whole of the Hire Charge and the Balance must be paid 42 days prior to the commencement of the Holiday.
3. CANCELLATION: Should the Hirer wish to cancel the booking, the Hirer shall immediately notify the Company in writing, upon receipt of which the Company will endeavour to re-let the Boat/s. If the Company is successful the cancellation will be accepted and the Deposit and Balance received (less an administration charge of 1/6 of the Total Hire Charge) will be refunded. If the Company is not successful in re-letting, the Hirer remains responsible for the full Balance of the Hire Charge. If cancellation insurance was taken and the reason for cancellation is covered in the policy, then a full refund (less the Insurance premium) will be refunded regardless of whether the boat is re-let or not.
4. MINORS: Bookings will not be accepted from Hirers under 20 years of age.
5. RETURNABLE SECURITY DEPOSIT: A sum of £100 per Boat, £25 per Canoe and £25 per pet is added to the Hire Charge as a Security Deposit. Security Deposits must be paid 42 days prior to the commencement of the Holiday with the final balance. The Security Deposit payment is banked by Starline Narrowboats. During the Week following the Holiday this sum shall be returned to the Hirer by cheque less any deductions in respect of loss, damage, additional cleaning etc.
6. BOOKING PERIOD: Boats are booked from approximately 3:00pm on the start day, and must return and be vacated by 9:00am on the return day if the return day is a Saturday or by 9:30am on the return day if the return day is a Friday or Monday. Late return will be charged at £10 per hour.
7. RETURN OF THE BOATS: Boats must be returned at the end of the Holiday in a clean condition and vacated at the agreed time and place. The Hirer is responsible for allowing sufficient margin of time for contingencies. The Company reserves the right to claim upon the Hirer for any expenses in which it is involved as a result of the late return or any necessary extra cleaning.
8. INSURANCE: Insurance of the Boat/s and its equipment and against the Hirers liability to other parties is included in the Hire Charge, however the Hirer is responsible for the first £100 of any claim. The Hirers personal effects are not covered by this insurance.
9. EQUIPMENT: The hirer must report any problems with equipment not working properly in order to allow the Company to make suitable repairs. The Company will not consider any complaints after the holiday if the problem was not reported at the time. The Hirer undertakes to report, and may be requested to pay for any equipment lost, broken, stolen or damaged. Unsuitable substitutes are not acceptable.
10. ACCIDENTS: The Hirer must report immediately by telephone to the Company any accident to the Boat/s or its equipment or to Waterways property, whether or not other boats are involved and shall proceed as instructed by the Company. The Hirer shall not at any time admit to any liability for any accident to any third party and shall not put any repairs into the hands of any firm without the Company's permission.
11. NAVIGATION: No Boat may tow another, travel after dark, or navigate any tidal waters without prior written permission of the Company. The Hirer shall at all times comply with instructions given by the Company or Waterway Authorities.
12. AVAILABILITY OF CRAFT: If due to circumstances beyond its reasonable control the Company is unable to provide the Hirer with the Boat/s booked or a suitable alternative, the Company will refund all Hire Charges paid in full, but the Hirer shall have no further claims upon the Company.
13. HIRER'S PROPERTY: The Company accepts no liability for loss or damage to the Hirer's property whilst on the Boat/s or premises of the Company, however caused.
14. RESTRICTED CRUISING: the Company accepts no liability and shall not be bound to make any financial adjustment in the event of cruising waters being restricted through repair work, floods, drought or fuel becoming restricted or rationed or any other cause beyond the control of the Company. In the event of no cruising being possible, the Boat/s shall be treated as a moored house boat and the Hire Charge reduced by 1/3.
15. FUEL: The Company reserves the right to adjust the Hire charge in accordance with the price of fuel at the commencement of the holiday.
16. VAT: Is included and is currently 17.5%. The Company reserves the right to increase prices should the VAT level change.
17. BREAKDOWN: The Hirer shall have no claim upon the Company as a result of any breakdown or failure of the Boat/s , its engine/s or equipment. Where such a breakdown is caused by the negligence of the Hirer, the Company shall have the right to claim upon the Hirer in respect of expenses involved in rectifying the matter.
18. INSTRUCTION:
The Boat/s will not be allowed out to the Hirer until instruction has been given and the Company is satisfied as to the Hirer's competence. If competence by the Hirer cannot be demonstrated, the Company reserves the right to cancel the booking and refund all Hire Charges paid in full, or to have the Boat treated as a moored house boat and reduce the Hire Charge by 1/3. In either case the Hirer shall have no further claims upon the Company.
19. WATERWAY RULES: Any breach of Waterway Authorities Rules and regulations will result in immediate termination of the Hire Contract by the company.
20. COMPANY INSPECTION: The Company reserves the right to stop and board the Boat/s for inspection at any point during the Holiday.
21. LITERATURE: All descriptions and diagrams advertising the Boats and the Company are generally accurate, however the Company cannot be held responsible for minor inaccuracies.
22. CAR PARKING: Ample car parking space is available within the marina. No charge is made for parking, however we regret that no responsibility can be taken by the Company for any damage or loss to your vehicle or property while left on the marina's property.
