Cancellation Protection Scheme (CPS)

This page is very important Do please read it

When completing your booking, you will be looking forward to an enjoyable and carefree break. Regrettably, circumstances can intervene and for unforeseen reasons you have to cancel your holiday. In such circumstances once you have paid a deposit and your booking has been confirmed by Starline Narrowboats, a contract exists which renders you liable for the whole of the hire charge unless we are able to re-book the boat which may not be possible especially if it is close to the start date. To protect you against such an unforeseen situation Starline Narrowboats offer a CANCELLATION PROTECTION SCHEME (CPS) which we assume you will wish to join.

The CPS in return for a small premium of 4% of the boat hire cost (with a minimum of £40) gives you the right under the qualifying circumstances detailed below to cancel your holiday at any time before you are due to start.  In this event you will be absolved of any liability under the terms and conditions of hire for any balance of charges due, and if part or all of such charges have already been paid, they will be refunded.

Qualifying Circumstances

Death, injury, illness or pregnancy (certified in all cases by a qualified medical practitioner), jury service or witness call of any member of the party listed on the booking form at the time of booking.

Death, Disablement (by accidental bodily injury or sickness) injury or illness (certified in all cases by a qualified medical practitioner), of the spouse, parent, step-parent, brother, sister, children, step-children, parent-in-law of the hirer or any member of the party

Redundancy of the hirer, providing that the hirer qualifies for payment under the Redundancy Payment Act 1965.

Note:  This scheme only covers full cancellation.  It does now cover a partial refund.  If you choose NOT to join the CPS and you subsequently have to cancel your holiday YOU WILL BE LIABLE TO PAY THE WHOLE OF THE HIRE FEE unless we can re-let the boat in which case we will levy a re-letting fee equal to 15% of the re-letting charge.

Warranty

The scheme is subject to a warranty that at the time of completing the hire booking form each person detailed as a member of the party and on whose state of health the journey depends is in good health, free from physical or mental defect and is not subject to any chronic or recurring illness, nor is under treatment of any kind.

Cost

A charge of 4% of the Boat Hire Cost subject to a minimum charge of £40 is levied to join the CPS
